A "dedicated" VPS, or VDS, differs from a standard VPS plan in that there is greater resource allocation (RAM, disk, monthly traffic) and, most importantly, the minimum amount of CPU is guaranteed. Plans are provisioned according to three ratios, 1:4, 1:2, and 1:1. This correlates into 25%, 50%, and 100% minimum CPU at all times, burstable up to 100% depending on the activity of other guests.
Performance is nearly that of a regular dedicated host (1-2% overhead), with the added benefits of complete portal and high-availability network integration and management.
For customers with an existing standard VPS hosting plan, migration into a "dedicated" VPS is seemless, and in most cases, requires no change in IP and a period of downtime lasting only minutes.
All distributions supported by the standard VPS plans apply to the "dedicated" series of service as well, including Trixbox, AsteriskNow, PBX in a Flash, and Elastix.
