get_gentoo
Gentoo Linux is a source-based distribution that can be optimized and customized for just about any application or need.  Perhaps Gentoo's most striking feature is its package management. When installing a package, the system downloads the source code from the Internet, compiles it, and installs it. Gentoo is an excellent choice for software developers and hosting resellers looking for flexibilty and a high  level of customization.

get_debian
Known to be a secure and stable Linux distribution, Debian GNU/Linux is among the favorites of experienced users. There are more than 15490 packages available, precompiled software bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine.  This lends itself to quick and reliable deployment of services and applications. Debian is an excellent choice for webhosting resellers looking for the best in stability, security, and reliablilty.

centos
CentOS (Community ENTerprise Operating System) aims to be a 100% compatible rebuild of RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions, in full compliance with RedHat's redistribution requirements. It is for people who need an enterprise class OS without the cost of certification and support.  It closely resembles the look and feel of Fedora Core, but typically provides more widely-used versions of packages and applications. CentOS is an excellent choice for hosting resellers looking for an enterprise class  distribution, stability, and well-tested and widely-used software.

get_fedora
Fedora is a Red-Hat-sponsored and community-supported open source project.  It is intended to be a fast-paced distribution for those that like to stay on the leading edge of technology.  It strives to be the best combination of stable and cutting-edge software. Fedora Core is an excellent choice for hosting resellers looking for the latest (and sometimes experimental) pre-compiled applications.

ubuntu
Ubuntu is a great choice for customers that need the benefits, feel, and management of Debian with an more up-to-date package repository.

get_suse
USE Linux originates in Germany, unlike most of the other Linux distributions, which have homes in North America.  It is another RPM-based distribution, so is very similar in administration to Fedora Core. We are primarily providing SUSE to customers that have had previous experience and have developed a working comfort level with this distribution.

get_slackware
Slackware is the oldest of the distributions that are in common use today with the first release dated July 16, 1993, and is typically a familiarity amongst Linux veterans.  It is designed with the twin goals of ease of use and stability as top priorities. Including the latest popular software while retaining a sense of tradition, providing simplicity and ease of use alongside flexibility and power, Slackware brings the best of all worlds to the table. Slackware is an excellent choice for VPS/Vserver customers with moderate Linux experience and requiring a simple and unbloated system, reliablilty, and stability.

archlinux
Arch Linux is a general purpose linux distribution that can be molded to do just about anything. It is fast, lightweight, flexible, and most of the parts under the hood are quite simple to understand and tweak, which can make it a good distro to "learn the ropes" on. There are no configuration helper utilities (ie, you won't find linuxconf) so you will quickly become very proficient at configuring your system from the shell commandline. Arch Linux is an excellent choice for indivduals or researchers looking for a pleasant and flexible system, providing seemless management and co-existence of pre-compiled binaries and source-built packages.

The distribution is what gives your Linux VPS character. Each distribution offers a unique blend of package management, filesystem heirarchy, and application features. While Linux distributions in general are geared towards a wide variety of markets and users, we have chosen the best of breeds for a VPS environment. We also offer a wider variety of distributions than most VPS providers, because we realize you may be accustomed to a particular distribution already and simply don't have time to reinvest in learning a new package manager, configuration caveats, etc.

Perhaps you want to try out a different distribution, or you are new to the VPS market (or server hosting in general). In that case, knowing some background about a Linux distribution can help you make an informed decision on which to choose. Below is an outline of each distribution that we currently offer.
